How to setup a Zulu strap (for your wristwatch)

This is a guide to help you correctly setup your zulu strap for your wristwatch. There are many ways to setup zulu straps, but the method that I will show you is pretty good if you want to quickly learn how to use a zulu. For this guide, I will be using my Vostok Komanderskie watch for demonstration purposes. Of course, you can use any other watch. Let's begin.

What is a Zulu strap ?

The Zulu strap is the strap that uses 5 buckles to secure the strap on your wrist. See the photo below that displays a zulu.

The Zulu advantage

The biggest advantage of this type of strap with the method that will be shown is that it allows to minimize the ammount of pressure applied on the watch's pins when the strap is being pulled or when the strap is undertaking a lot of tension in general.

The Zulu guide

Step 1: Pass the upper part of the strap (the part of the strap with the adjustment holes) through the pins.

Step 2: Pass the upper part of the strap through the first 2 intermediate buckles.

Step 3: Pass the upper part of the strap OVER the SECOND intermediate buckle, then pass the strap THROUGH the FIRST intermediate buckle.

Step 4: Pass the upper part of the strap through the adjustment buckle while the watch is on your wrist. Select your prefered adjustment hole for the desired fitment.

Step 5: Pass the strap through the last 2 intermediate buckles.

Step 6: Pass the strap OVER the FOURTH intermediate buckle, then pass the strap THROUGH the THIRD intermediate buckle. Pull the strap, the watch should now sit nicely on your wrist.
